The problem is, I think that giving freshly baked goods to friends is wonderful! So, here is the answer, cookie mix in a jar! This way the receiver has the satisfaction of making their own cookies, without the measuring hassle. And, they get to enjoy them fresh from the oven.
There are tonnes of different variations of these around, I decided to go for chocolate chip cookies.
For the mixture I used: 220g lose brown sugar, 100g white sugar, 250g of plain white flour, 100g of chocolate chips, 1teaspoon of baking soda & 1 teaspoon of salt. Then layer them into a Kilner jar: 1 - Flour, baking soda and salt. 2 - Brown Sugar. 3 - White Sugar. Layer 4 - Chocolate Chips. I added a tag to the lid with these directions to let the receiver know exactly how to bake their cookies;
"1. Preheat oven at 190'C. 2. Cream 225g of butter, beat in 1 egg then add your cookie mix! 3. Grease a cookie tray. 4. Drop teaspoon-fulls of dough onto the tray. Bake for 10 minutes or until slightly brown. 5. Cool & enjoy!"

Neat huh? I am so happy with how it looks. I love all the separate layers. I loved decorating the jar to make it super festive. And I cannot wait to give them! Most of all, I can't wait to see how the cookies turn out. Have you made cookie jars before? How did they turn out? I hope if you haven't made them before I've inspired you to. Enjoy your Thursday!!

I used to love getting these! They always tasted great, and it was a good emergency stash for when a sweet tooth hits. I never mad them as gifts, but now that I'm thinking about it, why not?
ReplyDeleteI've never been given one!! I'm glad they're good! Since making it, I've considered breaking into it once already!! I'm awful
